At Augusta University, Kathryn supports the LGBTQ+ community through her leadership and service in the University Safe Zone Program and Lambda Alliance. She first became actively involved in Lambda Alliance when she helped mobilize a collective response to homophobic sidewalk messages on her campus. Since then, she has organized a “Take Back the Sidewalks” rally, drafted changes for the student legislation, organized discussion panels about homophobia and mental health in the LGBTQ+ community, and dedicated her studies to LGBTQ+ issues. She has also taken her activism to a global scale in St. Petersburg and Toronto at the World Pride Human Rights Conference. Through her efforts, Kathryn has made her own university a more welcoming place for LGBTQ+ people and she continues to work tirelessly in her endeavors to support the global LGBTQ+ community.
